Susanna Reincke

Dr. Susanna Reincke is a resident in pediatrics and a researcher with a focus on clinical and translational osteological research. She is currently a member of Prof. Oliver Semler’s research group at the University Hospital of Cologne, where she specializes in rare skeletal diseases. She is involved in clinical care, clinical studies and basic research in this field. During the last two years her main focus was on achondroplasia, including the use of Vosoritide. As part of this work, she has presented as an invited speaker on real-world data for Vosoritide at a national conference.

Previously, Dr. Reincke conducted research on cartilage biology and extracellular matrix in Prof. Brachvogel’s lab as a Clinician Scientist, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Since January 2024, she started her specialization in pediatric endocrinology and osteology and gathered further knowledge and clinical experience in managing rare bone diseases, such as osteogenesis imperfecta, achondroplasia, X-linked hypophosphatemia, and fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva.

Dr. Reincke completed her medical studies at the University of Witten/Herdecke in 2021 and started her residency in pediatrics in 2022. Her doctoral thesis focused on milk-derived miRNAs and their regulatory effects on fetal human intestinal cells.

Her scientific career began with a professional training as a state-certified Biological Technician, during which she completed internships at leading institutions, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington, DC, supported by the “Hermann-Strenger” Fellowship from the Bayer Science & Education Foundation. These early experiences fostered her interest in biomedical research and provided her with a solid foundation for her further research.

She is a co-author of publications in leading journals and is committed to improving care for pediatric patients with rare and complex conditions through both clinical care and basic research.
